About
Privacy and Anonymity
Mailbox.org is one of the few providers that truly enables anonymous usage. You can register an account without providing any personal information—no name, no address, and no backup email required. They even accept payment via cash (sent by mail) or cryptocurrency to ensure there is no paper trail linking the account to your financial identity. Based in Berlin, they operate under strict German data protection laws and have a track record of resisting government surveillance overreach.
Green and Comprehensive
The service is powered exclusively by eco-friendly energy, making it a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious users. Beyond standard email, mailbox.org includes a powerful, browser-based office suite (based on Open-Xchange) that allows you to edit text documents and spreadsheets. It also features integrated video conferencing (using Jitsi), making it a versatile tool for small businesses and families who want to de-google their productivity workflow.
Custom Domain and Security
Mailbox.org offers robust security features that users can configure themselves, such as forcing encrypted connections or blocking tracking pixels in emails. It supports custom domains even on lower-tier plans, which is a significant advantage over competitors that reserve this for premium tiers. The 'Tor exit node' support allows users to access their mail via the Tor network for maximum anonymity.
